It's been a year since I've graduated from university. Frankly, I never thought I'd ever say this but yes—I do miss school. I started missing school since last week, when I attended the amazing graduation show that my juniors have put up. I visited the studio to keep my belongings while I roamed around the school, and the nostalgia that hit me like a wrecking ball when I took my first step in.
My juniors, they've done such an outstanding job this time with the curation of the gallery space and their works. I've received countless of quizzing looks when I tell people that I graduated from Nanyang Technological University with a degree in Fine Arts. I know, it's a school famous for engineering, but really, we do have a School of Art, Design and Media that's about... Slightly older than a decade?
I've never been prouder to have graduated from there and I've never once regretted my choice to pursue my tertiary education there. This school is amazing. The people are amazing. I never thought I'd be able to connect with other people as deeply as I would, but those 4 years simply flew by and were without a doubt the best 4 years of my life. I even found a female soulmate (pictured above) whose personality is almost exactly the same as mine and our birthdays are only 2 days away! We became best friends in the shortest possible time and even went on a graduation trip together after my graduation show last year.
Korea was our top choice because 1) she can speak basic Korean because she's been taking classes, and 2) it's a safe country for 2 girls to roam around and travelling around is super convenient with the subways and all. We decided to head there for 3 weeks and visited Busan, Jeju and Seoul.
A year has passed and I can't remember much about the trip, but what I do remember are the times we spent exploring and hiking. I know, I'm the last person you'd think about when it comes to hiking, and I surprised myself too when we hiked up and down a mountain in Busan. Out of the 3 cities that we went to, Busan was by far my favourite. It has sceneries and nature, which I absolutely love, and it's not too boring either. It's quieter than Seoul but also friendlier and it feels more localised. On the other hand, it's less quiet as compared to Jeju (which was really quiet at night), so I really liked Busan.
Anyhow, the hike up the mountain was definitely worth it. As was the hike up a mountain to visit a famous temple. Just take a look at the photos right above, aren't the views spectacular?
The weather was actually really lovely, I'm still missing the weather now that I'm thinking about it. It was that kind of air-conditioning cool, which we'd never find in Singapore. And now the weather has gotten pretty bad...
When in Korea, Line Store and Cafe is a must to visit. And being Brown and Cony's avid fan, it was at the top of my must-go list. I guess you could imagine the happiness I was feeling and how I was just squealing with excitement when I saw this huge Brown sitting at the entrance to the store. A photo is a must!
Since I can't remember the details, I shan't go further. I'll be updating this site with the photos that I've taken during the trip, so if you're interested just hit the button below and it'll get you there!
